Ribbon-Cutting Celebrates New Building for Lifespan, The Miriam Hospital
A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony on November 18 celebrated the revitalization of an industrial site at 180 Corliss Street in Providence. Nearing completion, it will be the new home of the Men’s Health Center and the Infectious Diseases and Immunology Center – all relocated from The Miriam. A Lifespan Pharmacy and a Lifespan Laboratory will also be housed there. Another key tenant is Lifespan-affiliated Anchor Medical.

The Miriam People Dinner Celebrates Tradition, Philanthropy, and Excellence
Coming together to celebrate the rich tradition of philanthropy and generous community support of The Miriam Hospital, Foundation Chair Susan H. Kaplan, hospital President Arthur J. Sampson, along with this year’s host Mrs. Gloria Winston welcomed more than 100 members of The Miriam People Society and their guests for this year’s Miriam People Dinner on October 29 at the Providence Marriott.

Intensive Care Unit at The Miriam Hospital Earns Gold Beacon Award
The intensive care unit at The Miriam Hospital was recently recognized with the highest designation of excellence the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) confers. The national nursing organization awarded The Miriam its gold Beacon Award for Excellence, a distinction in effect for the next three years.

The Miriam’s Annual Meeting Honors Alan H. Litwin as 2019 Miriam Person of the Year
On September 26, more than 110 Miriam Hospital donors, friends, and supporters filled the Sopkin Auditorium when the hospital’s Foundation board of trustees hosted its 2019 annual meeting. In celebrating a stellar year at The Miriam while thanking a donor community whose generosity knows no bounds, hospital President Arthur J. Sampson and Foundation Chair Susan H. Kaplan highlighted some of the hospital’s most recent accomplishments.

The Miriam Hosts Evening with the Minimally Invasive Urology Institute (MIUI)
Patients, Board of Trustees, and Governors, enjoyed an evening mingling with world-class surgeons of the Minimally Invasive Urology Institute (MIUI). Guests delighted in a hands-on surgical robot simulation and hearing about research, new surgeon recruits, and plans to bring the next generation, the da Vinci® XiTM Surgical System to The Miriam’s nationally ranked urology program.

In Support of The Miriam, “Bench Press for Cancer” Returns to Brown University for its 16th Year!
On Monday, October 21st, Brown Football hosted the 16th annual Bench Press for Cancer on the Main Green. The annual event was created in 2004 to help former team captain Lawrence Rubida ’05 and his family pay for the medical bills associated with his battle against Ewing’s Sarcoma.
