Maria Ducharme, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, Named Next President of The Miriam Hospital
Dr. Maria Ducharme, current chief nursing officer and senior vice president of patient care at The Miriam Hospital, has been named the hospital’s new president, effective January 1, 2021. She will replace Arthur J. Sampson, who is retiring at the end of 2020, after serving in a variety of roles at Lifespan over the past 35 years.

The Minimally Invasive Urology Institute receives Rhode Island Foundation Grant to support Genitourinary Cancer Research
The Rhode Island Foundation provided a generous $25,000 grant to help support the creation of a statewide, multi-institutional registry of genitourinary malignancies in Rhode Island. The goal of the project is to improve health outcomes for the people of Rhode Island by better understanding the complex factors that contribute to such a high incidents of genitourinary cancer in the state. The Miriam Hospital has been recognized for dramatically reducing the number of patients who fall during their hospital stay.
AvaSure, a Michigan-based patient-monitoring system producer, honored the hospital with its Path to Zero Award in late September.
