The Miriam Hospital Receives $1 Million to Support Nursing Education
After a positive patient experience with a loved one, Carol and Fred Levinger have generously donated $1 million to The Miriam Hospital to establish the Carol and Fred Levinger Nursing Excellence Fund. The fund will support the Hospital’s nurses with tuition assistance and student loan repayment.

The Miriam Hospital Welcomes New Chief Medical Officer
In September, Mark Deitch, MD, MBA joined The Miriam Hospital as the new senior vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer. He succeeds G. Dean Roye, MD, FACS, who held the position since 2017.

Brown Students Pump Iron, Raise Funds in Support of The Miriam Hospital
On Monday, October 18, the Brown University Football Team hosted its 17th Annual “Bench Press for Cancer” on the main green of campus. The event, which resumed after a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19, continues a longstanding tradition of raising thousands of dollars to benefit the Cancer Survivorship Program at The Miriam, which is a principal teaching hospital for Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School.

The Miriam has received an $11.1 million federal grant to establish a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Rhode Island devoted to a growing field of inquiry – how stress and trauma early in life can have lasting impacts on our health and wellness.

In order to ensure that its workforce reflects the diversity of the community it serves, Lifespan is expanding their suite of professional development programs and creating greater access to career pathways for the state’s BIPOC community. Through support from the Papitto Opportunity Connection, Lifespan will hire more than 1,000 Black, Indigenous, and People of Color over the next four years.
