Be Part of Rhode Island’s Largest Day of Giving!

401Gives is a statewide day of giving, which will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Powered by United Way of Rhode Island, the goal of the initiative is to raise awareness about the great work being done by Rhode Island’s nonprofit community and to collectively raise $1 million to help them continue their meaningful efforts. da Vinci Xi

New da Vinci Xi Expands Minimally Invasive Procedures

A da Vinci Xi robot was recently acquired by The Miriam Hospital, which was the first hospital in Rhode Island and Southeastern New England to acquire a da Vinci surgical system in 2006. Surgeons with the hospital’s Minimally Invasive Urology Institute use a da Vinci robot for an array of routine and complex kidney, bladder, and prostate operations. The Miriam’s urologic program was recently ranked in the top 2 percent in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The addition of this second robot will allow the hospital and its surgeons to substantially increase the volume of robot-assisted cases, not only for urologic procedures, but for colorectal cases and general surgery as well.

Inspirational Golf Tournament Held in Memory of Special Patient

The family, friends, business sponsors, and golfing friends held a lady’s tournament at Pawtucket Country Club in August in memory of Licia Langford, who passed away in 2016 of pancreatic cancer. Licia Langford started an invitational at Pawtucket Country Club, which was very successful in bringing women together from all over RI and Southeastern, MA.
