Thank You from South Beach, Annual Gala and Auction Raises $930,000 for The Miriam

The Miriam Hospital hosted more than 450 donors, friends, and supporters at their 2023 Gala and Auction, which took place Saturday, April 29, at the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence. The “Welcome to South Beach” themed soiree featured choreographed dance performances, high-energy party music, spot-on beach and nightlife décor, with a delicious assortment of foods and drinks. The signature event raised $930,000. Thank you to all who helped make this event so successful.

The 2023 Miriam Hospital Gala & Auction's fund-a-need proceeds will help bring groundbreaking and lifesaving technology to the Women’s Cardiovascular Program at The Miriam, making it the only program in Rhode Island to use innovative diagnostic imaging to detect coronary artery abnormalities unique to women.

 

Meet Michelle, wife, mother, teacher, and survivor of “widow making” cardiac event

Michelle had no history of cardiac disease when she was diagnosed with spontaneous coronary artery dissection, an emergency condition that occurs when a tear forms in a blood vessel in the heart. Thanks to her cardiac team at The Miriam Hospital, Michelle has made a full recovery. The 2023 Miriam gala supports women’s cardiac health.

The 2022 Miriam Hospital Gala & Auction's fund-a-need proceeds will help make the vision of a lung cancer screening and nodule program a reality at The Miriam Hospital. Our multidisciplinary, team-based approach, which will include a nurse navigator, will bring together recognized leaders and care specialists in medical oncology, thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, pulmonology, and pathology in the early detection and treatment of lung cancer.

 

Young mother, diagnosed with lung cancer, finds treatment at The Miriam

Kristen thought she had the flu but was instead diagnosed with a nodule on her lung that turned out to be cancer. Treated at The Miriam, and healthy today, she is grateful for the care she received. The 2022 gala and auction fund-a-need will help make the vision of a lung cancer screening and nodule program a reality at The Miriam Hospital and will better assist patients like Kristen in the early detection and treatment of lung cancer.

The 2021 Miriam Hospital Gala & Auction's fund-a-need supports the creation of The Center for Innovative Cancer Research at The Miriam Hospital. The new center will establish The Miriam as a leading provider for advanced, highly novel cancer treatments not only in Rhode Island, but within New England and the nation.

 

The Miriam Gala & Auction 2021: Roaring into the 20s – Sean's Story

Diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer which had spread to his bones, Sean was referred to The Miriam Hospital. After standard treatments didn’t work, he enrolled as the first patient in a new clinical trial being tested. Grateful for the extraordinary care he received from all team members he is looking forward to a bright future.

 

The Miriam Gala & Auction 2019: Grease is the Word!

Dollars raised through this year’s auctions and fund-a-need will help expand The Miriam Hospital’s colorectal cancer program to treat more patients while improving outcomes and quality of life in three crucial areas: navigation, which provides emotional support and guidance throughout the cancer journey; survivorship, a program that addresses the often complex physical, mental, and emotional transitions from treatment to recovery; and patient assistance, which helps alleviate the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis so patients can focus on healing.

 

The Miriam Gala & Auction 2018: Experience the Northern Lights

More than 550 guests filled the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence on Saturday, April 21, when The Miriam Hospital hosted its 2018 gala and auction, Experience the Northern Lights. The funds raised will benefit The Miriam Fund for a New Generation to support the hospital’s greatest and most pressing needs, and to support the addition of a palliative care nurse practitioner.
