Clinical Decision Unit

Clinical Decision Unit Opens in The Miriam Hospital

The Miriam Hospital’s emergency department held a grand opening celebration February 28 for its new clinical decision unit.

Patients who are expected to need only a short stay in the hospital – less than 24 hours – are sent to the observation unit. Before the CDU was introduced, these patients might have been admitted, filling an inpatient bed that could have been used for a more acutely ill patient likely to need a longer stay.

Thanks to a generous grant of $876,730 from The Champlin Foundation, The Miriam Hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation program has expanded so more cardiac patients will be able to participate in this program.
