Salute to Health Save the Date

A Healthy You. A Healthy Community.

In 1873, donors just like you stepped forward with the charitable support needed to create Newport Hospital, in response to the community’s pressing need. Now, more than ever, your philanthropic investment will ensure that you, your family and your neighbors can access the best in healthcare, right here at home. As you think about your charitable giving at year end, I ask that you include Newport Hospital in your plans.

Our mission is simple – to deliver health with care. The time is now, for A Healthy You. A Healthy Community.

With sincere appreciation, and best wishes for a happy and healthy year ahead,

Newport Hospital again receives Baby-Friendly designation

The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative was launched by the World Health Organization and UNICEF in 1991. It is a global effort to implement practices that protect, promote and support breastfeeding.

Having first received the designation in 2003, the hospital’s Noreen Stonor Drexel Birthing Center recently earned a five-year renewal. Hospitals are awarded this status when independent evaluators have determined that all hospital practices meet the rigorous Baby-Friendly standards.

Abbruzzi has been a fixture of the surfing and skating scene in New England since the ’60s, opening the beloved Waterbrothers surf shop in Newport. However, while Sid saw his share of bumps and bruises, the years of his high-octane hobbies began to wear down on him somewhere below the surface. A trip to the doctor told him that he had no cartilage left in his right hip and he needed a hip replacement.
