The pediatric hospital experience can be scary and overwhelming for patients and their families. The 2022 Heroes Ball fund-a-need will support a variety of patient and family-centered compassionate care services integrating aspects of the body, mind, and spirit into the approach of treating the whole child, not just the symptoms or illness. Compassionate care services are comprehensive and individualized to meet the child and family’s psychosocial, developmental, cognitive, and cultural needs. Complementing patients’ medical care, these “extra” yet essential services like child life, healing arts, and pet therapy, to name a few, ensure the entire family is supported through each step of the healthcare experience in the most positive way possible.
