Helping Refugees in Rhode Island

Helping Refugees in Rhode Island

The United States is known for its diverse population and immigrants from countries all over the world. Many are refugees, fleeing their homes and everything they know to escape political, religious, or ethnic persecution, violence, war, or famine.

The smallest state is no exception, and here in Rhode Island, we offer safe haven for refugees from many countries. Families leave areas such as Burundi, Nepal, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Congo, Afghanistan, Liberia, Myanmar, and Eritrea to resettle in Rhode Island. About half of these refugees are children.

At Hasbro Children’s Hospital, we offer a refugee health clinic. We provide initial evaluation, screening, and ongoing primary preventive health care for refugee children resettling in Rhode Island. Support this program >>

Camp Grace Celebrates Family Day

Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s Camp Grace is a day camp for children between the ages of four and seven with life-altering, chronic illness, and their siblings. The annual three-day camp, held at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, was established through a generous gift from Grace and Tony DelVecchio. The program provides kids a fun and exciting summer camp experience while considering their unique health care needs.
