2013 Bravo, Bradley! Raises $348,850 to Benefit Children and Families Struggling with Psychiatric, Emotional and Behavioral Disorders
On Friday, June 7, Bradley Hospital raised a record-breaking $348,850 at its annual fundraiser, the 2013 Bravo, Bradley! Gala and Auction, at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston, R.I. The event offered 275 guests "a magical evening in Paris" in support of the pioneering pediatric mental health care, education and research at Bradley Hospital, the nation's first-and New England's only-psychiatric hospital devoted exclusively to children and adolescents.
The evening provided an opportunity for the community to both celebrate and further the progress of children and families who benefit from all of Bradley's programs. The co-chairs of the event were Al and Gerrie Verrecchia and David and Mary Ann Kohlhammer. Guests enjoyed Parisian-themed cuisine, a live auction presented by professional auctioneer Paul Zekos of The Zekos Group, and dancing to the sounds of Brass Attack.
Opening the event was Samantha Norris, a grateful patient who has reclaimed her life thanks to exceptional treatment at Bradley Hospital. "Bradley Hospital saved my life, and it's hard to put into words how truly grateful my family and I are for that," she said. "Mental illness is no different from any physical illness such as diabetes. Although there is no cure, with the proper guidance and management, life can truly be a blessing."
Proceeds from the event support Bradley Hospital's programs that benefit children and adolescents. The live auction Fund-a-Need supports an expansion further into the community of Bradley's Pediatric Partial Hospital Program, a family-based day treatment program for children from infancy through age 6 with a range of serious emotional and behavioral problems.
"Bravo Bradley is our chance to showcase some of the best Bradley Hospital has to offer and demonstrate what the caring, compassion and generosity of our donor community have helped make possible," said Daniel J. Wall, president of Bradley Hospital. "We are grateful for the support of top Rhode Island companies like Hasbro, Inc. and Amica Insurance, who lead a long list of caring partners that have made this spectacular evening such a stellar success."
