Kids on Bradley Hospital’s children’s and autism inpatient units recently got up close and personal with cheetahs, rhinos, and giraffes – all through the safety of a computer screen.

The children were treated to a one-hour virtual tour of Safari West, an in-person safari in Sonoma, California. The Safari West Wildlife Foundation started offering Zoom safaris to kids in hospitals during the pandemic as a way to give back.

During the virtual tour, kids traveled through the facility, met animals, and learned facts about each creature. They even got to witness a rhinoceros “spa day,” during which the animals were treated to a manicure and mud mask.

Safari West reached out to Bradley with the opportunity and plans to bring more virtual tours to the hospital in the future.
