A History of Hasbro Children's Hospital
Built in 1994, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital, was designed in collaboration with doctors, nurses, and health care professionals, as well as parents and children from the community. In just over a decade, Hasbro Children's Hospital has established itself as the state’s premier pediatric medical facility, earning numerous awards and national recognition for its family-centered environment and expert medical care.
Since its creation, Hasbro Children's Hospital has forged a tradition of excellence and innovation while continuing to develop a comforting and compassionate environment for its patients. This combination has paved the way for a number of groundbreaking medical procedures, including the state’s first pediatric kidney transplant, the region’s first fetal surgery for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, the establishment of the state’s only pediatric transport team, and the opening of Rhode Island’s first injury prevention center. Through its changes and advances, Hasbro Children's has remained true to its “parents as partners” philosophy, involving parents in all aspects of care and decision-making.
These extraordinary examples are a testament to the care provided every day at Hasbro Children's Hospital. The same level of commitment is provided for each of the 7,000 inpatient, 60,000 outpatients and 46,000 emergency and trauma cases that the hospital treats each year.
As a not-for-profit hospital, Hasbro Children's Hospital continues to rely on philanthropy to support and strengthen its programs, and to sustain its place in the lives of the children it serves. Our level of excellence is made possible by the support of our many generous benefactors, big and small. Please help us as we continue our fervent dedication to providing the highest level of medical care to the children of Rhode Island and southeastern New England.
